Are Your Communications Strategies Meeting Your Goals?

You have a series of steps in place to meet your goals for communicating with internal and external stakeholders.  But how do you know if your strategies are working? That’s where a third-party expert review of your communications, goals, plans and strategies can provide valuable information.

Similar to a check-up at a doctor’s office, a communications audit looks at all facets of your information.  It looks at print and electronic documents, policies, practices, social media channels, websites and staff messages. Your information is reviewed by experts and a report is provided that includes re-enforcement of your strong strategies, new ideas and a re-evaluation of areas that may need adjustments.  It points out strengths as well as areas of improvement and directs areas of focus to where they are needed most.

The entire point of a communications program is to tell the school district’s story and to do it well. It’s important to take the time to make sure your strategies and tools are filling their purpose.  Just as we routinely update our academic initiatives to ensure students are receiving a high quality education, we must also update the methods in which we share our story to ensure we are connecting with those that need the information the most.
